TERRA
By EROL
Commissioned by French art house Cassiom, engineer, activist, and artist EROL uses a combination of creativity and digital applications to portray Earth in all her glory. His sculptures are made with numerical precision from satellite data so it is both realistic and accurate.
This striking one-meter terrestrial globe in bronze reveals sculpted continent reliefs and true-to-life marine depth. The land mass is raised to show the contrast from the deep oceans. This attention to detail teaches us through our own observation – while studying the detailed tectonic plates, volcanoes, the Himalayan summits or down to the Mariana Trench. Making these topographical details visible is an accomplishment in both Art and Science. Even showing us hints of the Earth’s history.
The painted elements, gildings and varnish are done by hand.
